Lucius Malfoy strode into the Great Hall with the confidence and bearing of one who knew that they had no one who would challenge him. In a sense this was true. This was the third year he was a Prefect. His last. This would be his last year at Hogwarts. One that would be filled with tests and more work to show what he had learned while in these halls. This was also his last chance to influence the younger students without alerting the professors of their true intent.
All his previous years of getting to know the right people, renewing 'friendships' with those that were of the same ideology. For six years he'd worked to gather influence, connections, and a reputation. The last couple of years it was to get the younger students indebted to him and learning their secrets to hold over them. Being in a position of power such as a Prefect helped.
Smirking slightly when the headmaster let the first years know to follow their Prefects, he for a brief moment thought about relegating that duty to a younger newly elected Prefect. Thinking better of it though, Lucius wanted to make sure that the newest batch of snakes were in the right mindset. The only way to do that was to make sure they were, was to do the job himself.
Turning to one of the last first years to join their table and who was sitting closest to him, Lucius gave a welcoming smile. "Congratulations on getting into the best house in Hogwarts. Lucius Malfoy, senior Prefect of our noble house. And who might you be?"
