Lily pursed her lips as she poked her head out into the massive great hall that was still relatively packed with older students, even though class started in five minutes.
Just a quick look, she'd told herself as she'd turned on the spot in the middle of the hallway and then forced her way back to the entryway where she stood now, looking up and feeling very, very small.
The ceiling was huge and vaulted, supported by wooden beams that were twice, or maybe even three times her width. Each panel was carved with scenes of mythical wizards fighting fabulous, fearsome beasts that made her shiver when she looked at them.
What was the story behind each of them? Was there love? Adventure? Betrayal? She would have loved to know.
Unfortunately, it would have to wait, as, before she could turn, she found that she had forward momentum, along with something human moving with her.
